Late last week, Marvel announced that the new Fantastic Four would be released a day earlier than scheduled, due to the fact that the AP would be reporting on the death of one of the FF. Now I thought that meant us loyal readers would be able to sneak into the comic shops on Tuesday to find out which one of the four would bite it before the mass media spoiled it for the world. So Tuesday morning I woke up and jumped on Twitter to find many warnings from fellow comic fans to stay away from mainstream news. I knew what I had to do.
MEDIA BLACKOUT!
I stayed off of facebook, twitter, pretty much all of the Internet, the radio, newspapers...you get the idea. I did this from 7AM until noon. And it was the hardest thing I've ever had to do, but I made it to the shop and read it as soon as possible. And damn, was it good.

YOU ARE ENTERING SPOILER TERRITORY.
My money was on Reed dying, but MEAT BALL kept telling me it would be the Human Torch. Who would have thought that MEAT BALL would be right? This is the guy who I overheard just yesterday telling his bookie to put all his money on the Eagles in the Superbowl.
To me, the Human Torch seemed unlikely. Since Jonathan Hickman has been writing the book, he focused on Reed and hasn't used Johnny Storm a hell of a lot. I figured he had some plan for Johnny down the road a bit. Now it looks that plan was his death. I was reminded of the Toy Story 3 incinerator scene, as Johnny looked at the second annihilation wave heading his way, and showed some true bravery, facing his fate, and going out like the superhero he always strived to be. It was one of the best death scenes in comics that I've read in a long while. I honestly can't think of a superhero death that tops it for me. Johnny stepped up. He took a stand. Hickman has made Johnny Storm cool again, taken from us too soon. He’s like the Heath Ledger of the Marvel Universe.

what a solo career that was!
ive watched/read reviews that found similarities with alotta hollywood material. thats probably why i dropped the series after Ben got fleshy again. that was a great number to go out on, i thought. Reed shoulda died. then we could have a few years of the '3' sifting around through all his genius stuff in his building full of labs. there coulda been a puzzle among the experiments and inventions that brought him back eventually.. and the characters that still retained human personalities could have functioned as a team that equaled their parts. FF has always seemed to be a nuts and bolts formula - and Ive loved the way its worked. but Reed as the super smart guy..not even being a super power. he's stretchy -- thats his power. being super smart for no reason takes some 'Nuts. and he points the others around like the 'Bolts. and the stories are always missing some depth - till you kill the smart-assed kid on the team.
...but i havent read the issue. probably wont till the trade drops in my lap.
and i think this is a bad rip off of Home Alone /meets/ Jumanji.
