While the genre-crossing erotic action epic "Manhunters" took actor / director / writer Brad Armstrong's career to a new level of commercial and artistic excellence last year, the recently announced 2008 AVN Nominations suggest the gifted filmmaker is raising the bar even higher this year.

Shot on film, the director's darkly elegant cinematic fairytale "The Craving" was one of the year's top-rated movies, receiving such important nominations as Best Film, Best Director, and Best Cinematography (Francois Clousot), as well as four sex scene noms, three of which featured the movie's luminous star, jessica drake. In the video categories, his compelling war epic "Coming Home" received 13 major nominations, including Best Director, Best Screenplay - Video, Best Video Feature, Best High-Definition Production, Best Packaging, Best Actor - Video (Brad Armstrong), Best Actress - Video (Kirsten Price), Best Supporting Actor - Video (Barrett Blade), and Best Supporting Actress - Video (Shyla Stylez). The director's touching "Just Between Us" was recognized with a Best Actress - Video nomination for its beautiful star, Carmen Hart, and his "Love Always" snared a Best Supporting Actress - Video nod for jessica drake (who also penned the screenplay). A newly-minted category, "Best High End All Sex Release," recognized the excellence of the filmmaker's popular "Kaylani Unleashed." Armstrong's penchant for such stylish erotica was honed in college, where he majored in art and advertising. Soon after, he began working in production while also establishing himself as one of adult's most in-demand performers. After self-financing his first film effort, he met Wicked Pictures Owner Steve Orenstein at the East Coast Video Show. Impressed with the new filmmaker's talent and vision, Orenstein signed the director to an exclusive contract in 1996. In his first years with the company, Armstrong made it apparent that he was a filmmaker to watch with titles like "Conquest," "Flashpoint," "Hell On Heels," and "Exile." His 2000 classic "Dream Quest" became the first adult title in history to see a simultaneous release in both VHS and DVD formats. An even bigger success, "Euphoria," ruled both the 2002 AVN Awards and Adam Film World Awards, winning Best Feature, Best Director, and Best Actress from both voting bodies. It also won Video of the Year at the XRCO Awards, making it the first production in history to win Best Video from all three groups. The following year saw Armstrong's "Falling from Grace" receiving ten AVN noms, including Best Feature - Film and Best Actress - Film, as well as winning two: Best Actor - Film (Brad Armstrong), and Best Screenplay - Film. The next year's AVN Awards saw his film "The Collector" winning both Best Art Direction and Best Screenplay, while his AVN Editor's Choice "Fluff & Fold" snared a Best Actress trophy for jessica drake. The acclaimed director continued to produce successful shot-on-film features like "Sold" (the sequel to "The Collector"), and "Eternity," a visually elegant period piece that snared a Best Actor AVN award for Randy Spears. On January 13th, 2007, the director's explosive bounty hunter epic "Manhunters" led the way at the AVN Awards as the evening's winner for Best Film. The movie's other major awards included Best Actress - Film (jessica drake), Best Director - Film, Best Screenplay - Film, Best Actor - Film (Randy Spears), Best Supporting Actress - Film (Kirsten Price), and Best Anal Sex Scene - Film. Armstrong's stylish erotic vignette film "FUCK" also received five major awards, including Best Cinematography, Best Art Direction - Film, Best All-Girl Sex Scene - Film, Best Oral Sex Scene-Film, and Best Group Sex Scene - Film. He also earned many nominations in the video categories - his thriller "Curse Eternal" scored 15 significant noms, including Best Director & Best Video Feature. Throw in a nod for "Between The Sheets" as Best All-Sex Release, and a Best Actor - Video nomination to Brad for his excellent performance in Michael Raven's "Women On Top," and the director's tally accounted for 57 of the 102 AVN nominations received as a whole by Wicked Pictures for the year.

As seen in such excellent new productions as "Last Night" and the upcoming "Bad Girls," Brad Armstrong is a unique visual stylist with a complete mastery of his storytelling skills. His talent never fails to earn him both critical accolades and commercial success.

In 2021, Armstrong signed a contract to direct content for Vixen Media Group. Later in the year, he announced his retirement from the adult industry. Biography Courtesy Wicked Pictures
