The King Of Comedy. A lofty title to be sure, but when it comes to skillfully blending humor and hardcore sex, Jonathan Morgan has few equals. As the 2008 AVN Nominations make clear, he's continuing to craft awards-worthy comedic erotica, both as a director (he's currently up for Best Sex Comedy for "The One") and as an editor (his skillful cutting of "Operation Desert Stormy" received a Best Editing nom). Given this skill set, it should come as little surprise then that when he first entered the adult entertainment business as an actor, Jonathan's first films for Wicked Pictures were part of an X-rated comedy series. One of these features, "Haunted Nights," earned him AVN Awards for Best Non-Sex Actor and Best Screenplay. Jonathan first turned his ambitions behind the camera in 1993, directing the ahead-of-its-time gonzo series "Reel Sex World." In 1997, Morgan directed "Crazed," his first full-length feature for Wicked Pictures. This critically acclaimed AVN Editor's Choice video starred Wicked Girl Serenity, and won Jonathan honors for Best Screenplay at the 1998 AVN Awards. Continually driven to redefine not only his own career but adult entertainment as a whole, Morgan went on to direct another AVN Editor's Choice for Wicked, "Indigo Delta," also starring Serenity. Her co-star, Tom Byron, would later win the AVN Best Actor award for his performance. In 1998, Jonathan signed an exclusive contract with Wicked Pictures, and his considerable skills as an actor, director and editor finally received some well-deserved recognition, and earned the budding auteur a full time home in Wicked Pictures' headquarters. His hilarious 1999 porn comedy "Double Feature" became the most acclaimed comedy in AVN history, winning ten AVN Awards, including Best Director, Best Comedy, and Best Actress (Serenity). Morgan's other comedies have included "Bride of Double Feature" as well as the critically acclaimed "Hercules" and "M Caught in the Act." In 2001, the latter title again won Morgan the coveted Best Comedy Award, and allowed Serenity to again walk home with Best Actress honors - making her the first actress in adult film industry to do so two years in a row. Morgan went on to receive some of the best reviews in Wicked Pictures history with the ambitious three-hour sci-fi comedy epic "Space Nuts." This AVN Editor's Choice garnered the gifted director the magazine's 2004 Best Sex Comedy award, and was prominently featured in Universal Pictures' $100 million grossing "The 40 Year Old Virgin." But even the success of "Space Nuts" has been eclipsed by the runaway success of the slasher film satire "The Camp Cuddly Pines Power Tool Massacre," which received five awards at the 2006 AVN Awards -- Best Sex Comedy, Best Screenplay, Best Supporting Actress (Stormy Daniels), Best DVD, and Best DVD Menus. One of the most successful productions of any kind in Wicked's 15 year history, Morgan's homage to the splatter films of yesteryear has gone on to win additional awards from other voting bodies, and has become an iconic piece of the pop culture landscape, much like the films it parodies. And as the 2007 AVN nominations revealed, Jonathan hasn't forgotten his acting roots, with his work in Michael Raven's "Becoming Carmen Hart" earning a 2007 Best Non-Sex Performance nom. Never one to rest on his laurels, Morgan continues to redefine the boundaries of adult entertainment with such unusual releases as "Julia Ann: Hardcore," which found the titular adult film legend showing off a brunette look while she explored the darker side of her sexuality, committing several erotic firsts for herself in the process. As his 2008 AVN nominated Stormy Daniels vehicle "The One," the upcoming "Next" starring Kaylani Lei, and "Fired" with Carmen Hart clearly reveal, the only thing more exciting than where Jonathan Morgan has been is where he'll be taking audiences in the future.
