Under The Skin (Blu-ray + UltraViolet)

I happened to read the book when it was a book club selection about a dozen years ago. There is less story to the movie than there was in the book, probably to avoid spending money on special effects.

Someone who hadn't read the book probably spent the movie wondering why Scarlett Johanson's character was acting so strangely. It was because she was a space alien disguised as a beautiful woman, as TLA's synopsys has already revealed. Shortly after that news, the movie ends. It is never explained what she was trying to do by abducting certain human males.

Many critics liked the film, but most of the audience reviews were negative. Having read the book, I was disappointed. Otherwise, I would have been left trying to figure out the point of the movie.
